YvaMarie New York is rooted in two worlds: the botanical traditions of our founder’s Haitian heritage and the modern science shaping skincare today.
The name YvaMarie honors founder Marsha Guerrier’s grandmother, Yva, and mother, Marie, two Haitian women whose approach to care shaped generations of their family. Their influence lives at the heart of a brand created to carry the intention and simplicity of those traditions forward for the realities of modern, changing skin.
A Legacy of Botanical Care
Growing up in Haiti, Yva was surrounded by a culture where plants were part of everyday care. Botanicals such as aloe vera (lalwa), hibiscus (choublak), and bitter melon (asosi) were cultivated and used in rituals for the skin, hair, and body.
That knowledge wasn’t a beauty trend. It was simply part of how women cared for themselves and their families with what was available, with consistency, and with intention. Yva passed that philosophy of care to her daughter Marie, and its influence continued into the next generation.
For YvaMarie, that heritage isn’t about recreating the past. It inspires how we think about skincare today: purposeful ingredients, intentional rituals, and care that respects the skin rather than overwhelming it.
